Once upon a time……………don’t you just love the way fairy tales begin. Well you are going to love the way this one ends! Jody and Rich were SWEETHEARTS 25 years ago. It was a long distance relationship and it was just not meant to be at that time.
Fast Forward 2010……..FACEBOOK!! Jody and Rich were both new to facebook. Late one evening Jody got a message from Rich that would make any woman Swoon. She called here sister Lori and asked her what she should do. Lori asked what the message said. Jody replied it said “HI”.
Well folks the rest was History!

Jody is easy going, carefree and Romantic with a capital ‘R’ but by no means a pushover. She knew exactly what she wanted. The wedding plans were loose and non-stressful and the evening was Magnificent.

The wedding was held at the SRBYC.

Jody and Rich were surrounded by wonderful family and friends. Love was definitely in the air!

And then they were ‘Five’

Jersey Shore Florist did an outstanding job with the flowers!

They danced the night away to the tunes of DJ Rich Greco

“30 Seconds of Controlled Chaos”…………That is the name that I have given to this commercial shoot produced by Jon Arbes and Ziyad Saadi. To a casual observer it could have looked a bit chaotic, but if you stayed and watched as I did you would have realized that it was anything but.

I had the opportunity to photograph ‘behind the scenes’ of a film set filming a film set. It was quite a creative idea visualized by Jon Arbes, Michael Zaw and Rocio Gimenez. I could have called it “30 Seconds of Perfection”. The crew worked tirelessly unloading trucks and setting up their equipment. It was fascinating to watch them work as they transformed the large cavernous space at Rollin Studio located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn to a professional studio set.

Jon Arbes the Director together with Rocio Gimenez (Assistant Director) and Michael Zaw the Director of Photography guided their technical crew and actors through out the day to achieve their final product.

The commercial was shot with a Panavision Platinum 35MM camera with the 10-100 zoom. Kodak Vision 3 500T film stock was used.

Lighting which is one of the fundamental elements of film making was measured and measured again to get the desired look. The way the light falls on the actor’s face, the props, the framing, zooming etc. were carefully thought through.
During the rehearsals, Director Jon Arbes and DP Michael Zaw blocked (decide the exact movement of both actors and camera) the shots as the actors walk through their actions, discussing any special camera moves and lighting requirements.

Each shot is marked up and measured for focus and framing. Precise attention was given to every detail by the very talented Cinematography crew.

Director of Photography: Michael Zaw
1st AC: Sasil Echeverria
2nd AC: Deanna Covello
3rd AC: Nicole Libassi
Dolly Grip: Ugur Becer
Boom Operator: Kalle Dahlberg
Gaffer: Don Gerado Frasco

Let me introduce you to the lead actors.
Steep Daniels shown here was cast as ‘The Director’

Actress Alexandra Rosario played the “Hot Babe on Bike”

The entire cast and crew is shown here. There was a great camaraderie on the set all working together to bring the project to completion.

The day of the shoot is just part of what goes into film making. Next comes the Post Processing.
The film was to be developed at Technicolor which is home to industry leading creative and technical professionals.

The crew would then view the footage at PrimeFocus and determine any finishing touches.

There you have it……….This is what my view looked like from ‘Behind the Scenes’

BTW……..
Traffic/Parking Tickets = $700.00………Oh Well just the price of doing business in NYC! It comes with the territory!

Street Renaming in…THE BRONX!!

Written on June 22, 2011 Categories: NY/NJ Event Photography

It was a hot and muggy Saturday in June, but this day will be spent honoring one of Fort Apache’s fallen brothers Kenneth Mahon. Today, 06-18-11, a street will be renamed after him. The corner of Southern Blvd and E147th Street will now be named “P. O. Kenneth Mahon Place” not far from where he was murdered.

On December 28, 1974, Kenny was brutally shot and murdered in the line of duty. He worked in the anti-crime unit in one of the deadliest precincts in the United States…The 41 – Fort Apache. This precinct was made famous by the movie “Fort Apache – The Bronx” starring Paul Newman based on a book by the same name written by Captain Tom Walker. Walker was the executive officer in the 41 precinct in those days and he attended this event. In the 70′s, the South Bronx was run by street gangs…..the Savage Skulls being one of the most notorious. There was an unusual number of crime and violence. The 41 precinct averaged over 100 homicides per year. My husband, Jack Marchesi, was a young cop assigned to the “Fort Apache” anti-crime unit in the 70′s. As you can imagine, he has a bottomless barrel of tales. His team would average 10 jobs per tour……many of them very serious crimes.

We pulled up to a sea of blue……old Pct. 41 Alumni, the Blue Knights, and of course the current Pct. 41 Police Officers. It was a reunion for some who had not seen each other for many years. When your life depends on each other, a lasting bond is formed and it was quite evident. Lots of handshaking and reminiscing.

The official ceremony began with the National Anthem sung by P.O. Christopher Mendez who did an outstanding job. This was followed by remarks by various luminaries. P.O. Mahon’s daughter Melinda who was just 3 years old at the time of her father’s murder gave a brief eulogy. Her hard work and dedication along with Hon. Maria Del Carmen Arroyo made this street renaming possible. As she ended her remarks, Melinda let two balloons float to the heavens with ‘Happy Father’s Day’ on them. She said she could now finally celebrate ‘Father’s Day’.

Next, family and friends were escorted across the street to witness the official unveiling of the street sign at E147th Street and Southern Blvd in the Bronx to “P.O. Kenneth Mahon Place”. It was a bittersweet moment. Sister Thomas S. C. said a few closing words and the Emerald Society Bagpipes filled the air with their amazing sounds.

Thank You P.O. Kenneth Mahon for the ultimate sacrifice that you made to our community and our society.

After the ceremony, my husband Jack took me to the original 41st Precinct located at Simpson Street. Lots of memories were conjured up and guess what…..he thought of a few more stories that he could tell me on the way home!

I WAS ALL EARS!!
